The Medical Center of Southeast Texas is excited to announce the recipient of the DAISY Award for November 2022 is Jesus Davalos, an RN in the emergency department.

Here are some of the reasons JD was nominated for the award:

“While charging the ED overrun with patients and taking on the responsibility of a load of 6 patients himself until more staff arrived, he was making patient rounds and quickly zeroed in a patient that was not doing well. He grabbed help, called a code, and successfully helped resuscitate a patient that could have had a very different outcome. He is always picking up extra shifts and maintains an excellent rapport with patients, their families, staff, EMS, physicians, and anyone else who enters our ED. He is skilled, knowledgeable, and makes clinically sound judgements. Of all the ED’s he could work at, we are lucky enough to call him our coworker here at The Medical Center.”

The DAISY Award is a nationwide program presented in collaboration with the American Organization of Nurse Executives (AONE) that rewards and celebrates the extraordinary clinical skill and compassionate care given by nurses every day.
